Deadlines And Time Limits For Speakers


DEADLINES AND TIME LIMITS FOR INVITED EVENTS

Three-Hour Symposia: Two speakers, 50 minutes each; one commentator, 25 minutes. Speakers' replies (optional), 5 minutes each. 45-55 minutes left for discussion.

Author Meets Critics Sessions: Can be either two or three hours.
Either (if three hours): Two speakers, 50 minutes each; one author/respondent, 25 minutes. 55 minutes left for discussion.
Or (if two hours): Two speakers, 30-35 minutes each; one author/respondent, 20 minutes. 30-40 minutes left for discussion.

Two-Hour Invited Papers:
Either: One speaker, 50 minutes; one commentator, 25 minutes. Speaker's reply (optional), 5 minutes. 40-45 minutes left for discussion.
Or: Two speakers, 40-45 minutes each; 30-40 minutes left for discussion.

Informational Sessions: Can be either two or three hours.
Either (if two hours): Two speakers, 40-45 minutes, no commentator. 30-40 minutes left for discussion.
Or (if three hours): Three speakers, 45 minutes each, no commentator. 45 minutes left for discussion.

Deadlines: Invited speakers send abstracts of papers to the National Office by June 1. (Note: it is important to impress this upon speakers.)
Invited speakers send papers to commentators by September 1.
Commentators send comments to speakers by November 15.


DEADLINES AND TIME LIMITS FOR SUBMITTED PAPERS

Colloquium Papers: One speaker, 20 minutes; one commentator, 10 minutes. Speaker's reply (optional), 5 minutes. 25-30 minutes left for discussion.

Two-hour Submitted Symposia: One speaker, 35 minutes; one commentator, 20 minutes or two commentators, 15 minutes each. Speaker's reply (optional), 5-10 minutes. 45-65 minutes left for discussion.

(Note: the time limits on submitted papers are determined by the word limits imposed on submissions.)

Deadlines: Papers and abstracts will have been in the National Office by February 15.
Speakers send papers to commentators and session chairs by September 1.
Commentators send comments to speakers by November 15.

Note: The Eastern Division uses only one chair per two- or three-hour colloquium session (unlike the other two Divisions, which have a different chair for each paper).
