Books: Abnormal Psychology in Context was useful as an introduction to mental disorders. Ethics of Psychiatry had plenty of useful articles. Mental Health and Social Policy was rather too dense and contained too much discussion of social policy to be very helpful for a philosophy class.
The difficulty in this class was in getting students to focus on philosophical issues: they tended to summarize psychological theories and ideas (e.g., existentialist psychotherapy) without engaging in philosophical discussion.
