Jepson School of Leadership Studies, an interdisciplinary School at
the University of Richmond, invites applications for a tenure-track,
assistant professor with a specialization in the history of ideas
or in social and political thought. The successful applicant will
be expected to contribute to existing courses in areas such as justice
and civil society as well as to develop other courses in his or her
area of expertise. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in philosophy, or
in another applicable discipline or field such as history, classics,
sociology, or political science; the potential for an active scholarly
agenda on leadership; and the ability to do interdisciplinary research
and teaching in a liberal arts environment. Inaugurated in 1992, the
Jepson School of Leadership Studies is an independent academic unit
of the University and offers students the opportunity to major or
minor in leadership studies. With the aim of educating students for
and about leadership, the Jepson School offers a challenging liberal

Care Ethics Endowed Chair; McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal
Arts; Duquesne University seeks applicants for appointment to the Vernon
F. Gallagher Chair for the Integration of Science, theology, Philosophy,
and Law. The successful candidate will work primarily in Health Care Ethics.
Duquesne University Health Care Ethics Center is an interdisciplinary
center based in the Graduate School of Liberal Arts. It serves primarily
to run a series of graduate programs in the field, including the Ph.D.
Degree in Health Care Ethics. This is a full-time replacement opening
to begin August 2006. Appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure
is anticipated. Significant scholarly publications in the field of Health
Care Ethics is expected, as well as a record of teaching excellence. Earned
doctorate is required. The holder of this Chair is required to have an
extensive knowledge of the Roman Catholic tradition of medical ethics.
Clinical ethics experience is highly desirable. The holder of the Chair
must have a willingness to engage in clinical bioethics. Discipline base
is flexible, although preference will be given to candidates in the field
of theology or philosophy. The successful candidate will receive an appointment
in the department most suited to their disciplinary training and expertise.
In addition to research and publication, the holder of the Chair will
teach graduate courses in the Center, undergraduate and graduate courses
in the department of his/her discipline, including teaching in the undergraduate
Core curriculum, direct and read dissertations, serve on examination boards,
and otherwise perform the functions of a full-time senior faculty member.
