Founded in 1919, AUC’s campus is currently located in Cairo, Egypt, but will be moving to a new, state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo beginning Fall Semester, 2007 (see the New Campus website at www.aucegypt.edu/ncd/New%20Campus.html). The Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE) constitutes the largest concentration of philosophers working on applied philosophy and public ethics in Australia. Located in Canberra, CAPPE was established as a Commonwealth Special Research Centre in 2000 and is funded under the Australian Research Council’s Special Research Centre scheme. The following positions have been created between Charles Sturt University and Australian National University collaboration in the centre. Research Fellow Canberra Position Number W633149. The successful applicant will be responsible for the conduct of independent and team research on the ARC Linkage project, An Integrity System for Victoria Police. Situated in the western and south-western regions of New South Wales, Australia, Charles Sturt University incorporates campuses at Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, and Wagga Wagga along with specialist schools in Manly, Goulburn, and Canberra. The University is the host institution for the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE). The Centre constitutes the largest concentration of applied philosophers working on issues in professional and applied ethics in the English speaking world. Business and Professional Ethics constitutes one of its core research areas. In 2004 the Centre hosted the Third ISBEE World Congress on Business, Economics and Ethics. The successful candidate will be co-located between Canberra (CAPPE) and/or Wagga Wagga (Faculty of Commerce) with an expectation that duties will be divided between the two sponsors on a 6 month rotating basis. A significant proportion of the candidate’s research activity will be conducted at CAPPE in Canberra. Research will cover central issues in the area of corporate governance and ethics, including the accountability of corporations to stakeholders, the social responsibility of corporations, the nature and extent of fiduciary duties, workplace rights, ethics and corporate law, and ethical issues in human resource management. Some teaching and research supervision will be expected however course and subject development will be a high priority for the successful candidate in the Faculty with an expectation that research activities might also be linked to these areas.
