57., 58. BILKENT UNIVERSITY, Bilkent, Ankara, Turkey. Up to two openings (rank: Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor), commencing September 2006. Three undergraduate courses (two preparations) per semester in small classes. AOS and AOC open, but candidates with strength in analytic philosophy are especially encouraged to apply. The department offers, among others, a couple of large, multi-section, university-wide courses in social and political philosophy in the tradition of great books and prospective faculty should be prepared to teach these. Assistant Professor candidates must show evidence of outstanding research potential. Associate Professor and Professor candidates must have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. 59. IFOMIS, Saarbruecken, Germany. Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany: Post-Doctoral Research Position in Ontology. The Institute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information Science (http://ifomis.org) seeks applicants for a post-doctoral research position under the auspices of a European Union Integrated Project on Cancer Informatics with duties relating to the construction of a high-level ontology for the cancer domain. Work on the project, which is carried out in English, is highly collaborative. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least two of the following areas: formal ontology, logic, philosophy of biology, computer science, medicine, biology. 61. UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD, Oxford, United Kingdom. FACULTY OF LAW. Professorship in the Philosophy of Law. Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from October 1, 2006 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The professorship will be held in the Faculty of Law and is attached to a non-stipendiary fellowship at Balliol College. The professor will be expected to engage in research and to lecture and give instruction in the philosophy of law. The successful candidate will have a philosophical interest in law of a kind that could be shared with philosophers as well as lawyers. He or she will have an outstanding record of research and publication and extensive experience of giving lectures, leading seminars and classes, and supervising higher-level research.
