Friends University invites applications for a generalist position in the field of Religion or Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor. A Ph.D. in Religion or Philosophy with a specialization in Ethics is required (ABD nearing completion considered). The 4/4 load will be divided between teaching traditional undergraduates in the college of arts and science and adult students in accelerated evening programs in the college of adult studies. In addition to teaching, duties may include developing curriculum, advising traditional undergraduates, and serving on university committees. The Department of Philosophy in Dedman College at SMU seeks one or two full-time lecturers for the 2006-2007 academic year. These are non-tenurable appointments, but they are renewable annually. Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. Applicants should be able to teach various types of introductory ethics courses as well as undergraduate courses in either philosophyof law, medical ethics, or social and political philosophy. The teaching load will be four courses per semester. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
