The Department of Classics at Brown University has been authorized to announce an open-rank search for a historian of the exact sciences in antiquity. We seek candidates with a primary focus on one, and ideally on at least two, ancient civilization(s) and who possess scholarly and teaching interests in multiple aspects of those civilizations, such as (but not limited to) ancient astronomy, the physical and mathematical sciences, and the transmission of scientific texts.
