56., 57. BILKENT UNIVERSITY, Ankara, Turkey. The Philosophy Department of Bilkent University has up to two openings (rank Full Professor), commencing September 2007. The candidates should be analytic philosophers with a distinguished record of articles in leading journals and/or books published by reputable publishers of philosophical research. They should have a currently active, pertinent, and contemporary research agenda and a wide recognition of their work in the literature. The graduate (MA and Ph.D.) programs of the Department are in progress; they will take shape largely in accordance with the AOS and AOC of these first-rate researchers. At most two courses per semester in small classes. Salary competitive and commensurate with credentials. Rent-free furnished apartment on campus is among the fringe benefits. Three undergraduate courses (two preparations) per semester in small classes. AOS and AOC: Open, but candidates with strength in analytic philosophy are especially encouraged to apply. The department offers, among others, a couple of large, multi-section, university-wide courses in social and political philosophy in the tradition of ‘great books’ and prospective faculty should be prepared to teach these. Candidates should preferably have an earned Ph.D. at the time of appointment and show evidence of outstanding research potential. Salary competitive and commensurate with credentials. 60. MERTON COLLEGE, Oxford, United Kingdom. 4-year Research Fellowship in Philosophy, beginning October 1, 2007. This career development post will provide a promising philosopher at an early stage in his or her career with the opportunity to develop skills in teaching and academic administration, in combination with substantial support for research. The teaching commitment will be up to six hours per week, 24 weeks per year. AOS: Open. AOC: at least two and preferably more of Elementary Logic, History of Philosophy from Descartes to Kant, Philosophy of Mathematics, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy of Logic and Language, and Philosophy of Mind. The stipend will be £23,806 p.a. and the Fellow will be entitled to meals and accommodation in College and other benefits.
