26. DAVIDSON COLLEGE, Davidson, NC. Visiting Asst. Prof. of Philosophy. Full time position for the 2007-08 academic year only. AOS and AOC: Open, but the department anticipates teaching needs in one or more of the following areas: Formal Logic, Ancient Philosophy, Metaphysics. Two-semester calendar. Five undergraduate courses/year. No committee work or summer teaching. Someundergraduate thesis supervision is possible. Ph.D. by the time of appointment is strongly preferred. 29. UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA, Florence, AL. Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track. Ph.D. in philosophy prior to appointment. AOS, AOC: Open, but candidates with a strong background in religious studies are preferred. Applicants are expected to demonstrate astrong commitment to teaching, research, and community service. Responsibilities include teaching introductory courses in philosophy, including honors sections, and undergraduate courses in the history of philosophy, logic, ethics, and philosophy of religion. Four courses per semester on a two-semester system. Salary dependent on rank and experience. 30. VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY, Nashville, TN. Lecturer in Philosophy and Writing. The Writing Studio and the Department of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University invite applications for the position of Lecturer in Philosophy and Writing. The primary responsibility of this position is to the Writing Studio. The Lecturer in Philosophy and Writing will work under the leadership of the Director of the Writing Studio, and in consultation with the Chair of the Philosophy Department, to develop and coordinate Writing Studio programs and to train and support undergraduate and graduate student staff at the Studio. Lecturers will also teach writing-intensive courses in Philosophy. Contracts are for a one-year, renewable term and will be determined by the agreement of the Philosophy Department and the Writing Studio. Ph.D. required at time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in writing-intensive course instruction and in the tutoring of writing.
