The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies at The University of Arizona seeks to fill a senior position in Jewish Thought with a specialization in fields such as Philosophy, Literature, Religion, or Rabbinics. The position is contingent on availability of funding. Preference will be given to a scholar with a broad range of knowledge in both medieval and modern Jewish Thought and with a proven record of outstanding scholarly accomplishments. 17. UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI’I AT HILO, Hilo, HI. Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy: Position Number 73313T; College of Art and Sciences, general funds, full-time, temporary, nine-month type appointment, to begin approximately August 2007 and end July 31, 2008, with possibility of reappointment pending position clearance and funding. Duties: Teach nine hours (three courses) per semester of undergraduate courses in aesthetics, epistemology OR history and philosophy of science, introduction to Western philosophy, reasoning, and an elective of the candidate’s choice. Advise students; serve on university committees; engage in scholarly endeavors which contribute to the mission of the University. Minimum Qualifications: At time of application Ph.D. in Philosophy from an accredited college or university. AOS: Open but Aesthetics preferred. AOC: courses mentioned above. Desirable Qualifications: Competence in environmental ethics and/or history of philosophy. Salary: $49,000 per year. Full-time teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (5 courses/year); normal departmental duties. AOS and AOC open, but the department has teaching needs in History of Ancient & Medieval Philosophy, History of Modern Philosophy, Environmental Philosophy, and Feminist Philosophy.
