It is the considered opinion of the Board of Officers that its publication, Jobs for Philosophers, is the most appropriate and effective vehicle to bring employment opportunities to the attention of American philosophers and that notice of employment opportunities in Jobs for Philosophers satisfies any reasonable criterion of national advertisement. The American Philosophical Association, numbering over 10,000 members, is the major professional association of philosophers in the United States. It publishes four issues of Jobs for Philosophers each year. Jobs for Philosophers is mailed free of charge to any member of the Association who requests it. (Those who reside overseas must pay the air mail postal rates as indicated on their renewal forms.) Employment notices in Jobs for Philosophers are accepted from any institution, corporation, agency or individual interested in employing professional philosophers. PLEASE NOTE Readers of Jobs for Philosophers are also urged to consult the Bulletin Board of The Chronicle of Higher Education for academic positions in related fields (e.g., linguistics, religious studies/theology, classics, etc.) and for administrative positions in academia. The Chronicle of Higher Education is available in most university libraries.
