Current Volumes of Jobs For Philosophers Online:

It is the considered opinion of the Board of Officers that its publication, Jobs for Philosophers, is the most appropriate and effective vehicle to bring employment opportunities to the attention of American philosophers and that notice of employment opportunities in Jobs for Philosophers satisfies any reasonable criterion of national advertisement. The American Philosophical Association, numbering over 10,000 members, is the major professional association of philosophers in the United States. It publishes four issues of Jobs for Philosophers each year. Jobs for Philosophers is mailed free of charge to any member of the Association who requests it. (Those who reside overseas must pay the air mail postal rates as indicated on their renewal forms.) Employment notices in Jobs for Philosophers are accepted from any institution, corporation, agency or individual interested in employing professional philosophers.

PLEASE NOTE

Readers of Jobs for Philosophers are also urged to consult the Bulletin Board of The Chronicle of Higher Education for academic positions in related fields (e.g., linguistics, religious studies/theology, classics, etc.) and for administrative positions in academia. The Chronicle of Higher Education is available in most university libraries.

Prices are as follows:

For printed issues of the JFP, which appear in print and on the website on the date of publication:

$100.00 for the first 100 words

$0.80 for each word over 100

Examples: A 110-word ad would cost $108.00; A 170-word ad would cost $156.00.

"Web Only ads" - Ads appearing on the APA website between printed issues of JFP will be charged as quoted above with an additional service fee of $20.00. "Web Only ads" are billed in addition to ads appearing in printed issues.

These rates are per listing, per issue. Billing is done after each issue is published. Job notices are re-run only when requested in writing.

Ads Submitted late (after the copy deadlines below) for a printed issue will be assessed a late fee of $15.00. The issue goes to the printer as soon as it is ready, so the deadline for 'late ads' will depend on many factors. If it is past the deadline, email Lindsay Palkovitz at lindspal@udel.edu to see if you can still get your ad in the next printed issue.
