Gallagher Chair for the Integration of Science, theology, Philosophy, and Law. The successful candidate will work primarily in Health Care Ethics. The University of St. Thomas, Department of Philosophy, invites applications for at least two tenure-track positions to begin Sept. 2006, at the rank of assistant professor or instructor. AOS/AOC is open; but we seek individuals with strengths and interests that complement those of the 24 current department members. One position (at least) will be filled by someone with an analytic focus. Applicants should have outstanding philosophical, teaching, and writing skills, be exceptionally rigorous reasoners, have the virtues of collegiality, and be committed to sustaining and developing the Catholic intellectual tradition (though extensive familiarity with that tradition is not required). Ph.D. prior to appointment is preferred. The teaching load will be six courses each year, with standard non-teaching duties. St. Thomas has two semesters per year, plus a January term.
